Founder's
Message
I Can you believe it’s March 2009? Nine more months and
this year will be over. Have you started working towards
your goals for 2009? My goal was just to be a better me.
I am striving to reach that goal on a daily basis. I
want the Lord to be pleased in my actions. To love
unconditionally, that’s my mission. To forgive
others as Christ has forgiven me, that’s my mission.
To smile when I feel like crying, that’s my mission.
Is that your mission too?
Relief is bursting out of me for this new issue. Lord
knows it has been a task. But it’s here!
We all have been a step away from something. A drink
away from being an alcoholic, a bed away from catching
AIDS ( if you had unprotected sex ), a crime away from
being in jail and a hit away from being an addict. Make
a moment and read the interview entitled, “My
Disease of Addiction”, a candid and very honest
interview with a recovering addict. She talks about
prostituting herself, allowing drug dealers to use her
home to package drugs and men that sell their bodies to
other men for drugs and so much more in this issue.

My Disease of Addiction by Nicole Cleveland
A candid interview with a Recovering Addict
Alcohol and drug
addiction is not going anywhere. Each year millions of
people become addicted to legal and illegal drugs. The
effect it has on family and loved ones is serious.
Children are prostituted by drug addicted parents,
possessions are stolen and families are left to pick up
the pieces. All in the name of Love…. or is it love?
Someone told me it was enabling. One of my favorite
shows on television is Intervention on A&E. It’s raw but
it’s real . Recently I had a conversation with Sandy*, a
recovering addict.

The Missing Pieces To My Purpose: Conceived by Rape by
John Donelson
“I’m just trying to understand some things about
myself”, I said. “Can you tell me a little
about my father? What happened with him? How come you
never talk about what happened?” Earlier that
evening I had been in our intercessory prayer. It was a
good thing; because I was even more prepared for what I
would hear than I would have ever thought possible.
“Well”, I hear over the long-distance phone call.
As she clears her throat nervously, and speaks with a
mixture of fear and faith, “When I was 15 years old”,
she paused again, “I was raped. He doesn’t know
about you, and has never laid eyes on you. I don’t know
where he is, what he is, or if he even still exists”.
She was 54 years old when she finally revealed her
secret.

Abuser: I Don’t Really Want To Hurt my Child by Kathy
Collard Miller
Marching over to my two-year-old daughter, I directed
her into the bathroom. As I struggled to pull down the
soaking pants, I felt a rush of frustration and a sense
of failure.
"Darcy, you're supposed to come in the bathroom and go
in the potty chair. Why can't you learn?" I continued to
berate her. As I began spanking her with my hand, my
tension and tired¬ness found an outlet. Spanking changed
to hitting.
Darcy's uncontrollable screaming brought me back to
reason. Seeing the red blister on her bottom, I dropped
to my knees.

Vicki’s Voice
Q. Dear Pastor Vicki,
I am having issues with letting go and letting God fix
my situations. I give it to him and then I pick it back
up and try to fix it myself. How do I truly Let Go and
Let God, like the song says?

MONEY MATTERS
How
Did I Get Into This Mess by Terry Rigg
I know for myself and most of the people I have
counseled over the years, that it wasn't until we took a
good hard look at how we got ourselves in debt, that we
were able to start working on a way out. This isn't for
the purpose of placing blame, but is necessary to
determine what changes needed to be made and to prevent
it from happening again.
